It's been a really exciting start to my stint at SYFC. I'm learning new things everyday! I can also see GOD's hand at work in my decision to work here.

First, my dad 'suggested' that i spend my time of holidays wisely by joining project serve. That was the first call. And just in case I didn't listen to it, HE sent me the second call by Untip my sunday school mentor. Then began a string of GOD-sent 'coincedences'. #1:I met this contact I had from organising the carolling with the youths at a home a few years ago, and shes currently working at YFC. #2 I met this other guy I had previous contact with in West side ministry. #3 the area coord is my dad's friend, with the same heart. All these brought peace to my heart, that this is what HE wants me to do with my life now, and that he has a purpose and a plan for my life in this.

The first week of work we had a camp. Which was a real eye-opener. The main theme is on living an unwasted life, with Esau as the negative bible example. How somebody so priveleged at the beginning with a relatively decent life at the end (in the world's standard) could lead an overall wasted life at the end, in that he is counted as godless in the eyes of GOD. uncle chienchong said something quite apt: A wasted life is one that is not fully lived as designed and intended by GOD.

Apart from the lesson on Esau, we participated in many activities leading us to think more about living a wasted or unwasted life. We went on an orienteering expedition through sentosa through the night (which was dead tiring) which helped us to learn to work together as a ministry group.

I learnt a lot from the camp, not just the sermons and activities, but also from my team mates. I don't know if they'd want me to put their names here, so i decided against it, but you guys could give me a shout if you think you don't mind me naming you in future articles! haha(: anyway, they've really been a source of encouragement to know that there are so many like-minded youths who want to dedicate their time to serve the LORD. and also, they are ever willing to assist me whenever i fall short! I thank the LORD for such wonderful brothers/sisters in christ(:

This song really spoke to me during the camp, by keith and kristyn Getty : By Faith

By Faith we see the hand of GOD,
In the light of creations grand design
In the lives of those who prove his faithfulness
Who walk by faith and not by sight

By faith our fathers roam the earth
With the power of his promise in their hearts
Of a hold city built by GOD's own hand
A place where peace and justice reign

We will stand as children of the promise
we will fix our eyes on him our souls reward,
till the race is finished and the work is done
We'll walk by faith and not by sight

it's such a new song, i can't find the lyrics online! so i'm too lazy to type out the remaining lyrics:D If you want them, ask me and i'll pass it to you(:

this is the youtube link for the song. it's taken from the hebrews faith chapter(:

We started contact work today, and I'm really really excited about what the future holds(: I hope to update this blog maybe once a week or earlier? Do drop me comments to encourage me!
